10-10 01-10: Our binary baby

October 12th, 2003

Born to two computer geek parents, Callie entered the world on 10/10 at 1:10 am. (Never mind that she was supposed to come some 8 hours or less after induction began on 10/9… she’s apparently as stubborn and determined to make her own way as her mommy.) That either makes her a binary baby (all 1s and 0s, for my non-geek readers) or her own long-distance calling plan code (just dial 1010 0110, plus the number, to get our best rate ever!).

Surprisingly, she’s blond. Not sure why that’s such a surprise - Jason was blond as a little guy, and still has some blond in his beard. But we’ll get to see first-hand whether blondes have more fun… heaven help us!

Check out pictures of our new little girl. Please grant me more than a little leeway in any pictures that have me in ‘em… 15 or so hours of labor just doesn’t do much for a gal’s looks. (My) vanity aside, Callie’s cute enough to cover the two of us. And pics with Cora in ‘em (the new big sis!), too, just are nearly too cute to bear.

Congratulations! She is adorable. Wow 15 hours. This past January my sister-in-law and brother invited me to be a part of the birth of their third daughter, she was induced and gave birth 7.5 hours later. So to imagine that time doubled - I have great respect. Watching all she went through gave a new, greater meaning to “labor of love”. Again, Congratulations!

I hadn’t noticed the binary thing. That’s cool and all, but calling her 10100110 is a little unwieldy. And besides, she just doesn’t look like a 10100110. I propose that we abbreviate using hexidecimal and instead call her A6.

CONGRADULATIONS Mom and Dad,Always remember A child is A gift from God and they are a blessing, especialy when you are sleep deprived.I got to be there to see my grandbaby being born and it just gives you a whole new look at the whole process.I think you look great in the pictures for 15 hours of labor. She is beautiful. Always keep Cora involved as much as tou can with the baby. That seem to help with my two, they were 2 and half years apart.God bless you and keep you by his side.

Congrats guys! You should warn Jason, though, that this does upset the testosterone balance in the house :)
